General Admission Information

Hospital admissions at Bekaa Hospital may only be initiated by physicians who hold admitting privileges with the institution.

Main Admission Office Hours:

Our main Admission office, located on the ground floor, is open for admissions processing from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. During these hours, our staff will assist you with verifying insurance coverage, understanding benefits, and configuring any required referrals or authorizations.

Required Documents for Admission:

Upon admission to the hospital, please ensure you or a family member provides the following essential documents:

  • Your Personal Identification (ID card or passport).
  • A completed Admission Request Form from your admitting physician.
  • If applicable, the Reserved Date for Hospitalization (especially for scheduled surgical procedures).
  • For patients with health insurance, your Health Insurance Card and any necessary Authorization Form.
  • Information regarding your Third-Party Payer (insurance company, guarantor, etc.).

Special Admission Procedures

One-Day Surgery Cases:

For procedures where patients are admitted and discharged on the same day:

  • Admission papers must be processed at the main Admission office at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled day of the operation.

Emergency Admissions:

Upon arrival at our Emergency Unit, our medical and nursing staff are prepared to provide immediate care without delay.

  • If admission to the hospital is required, patient relatives or representatives will be directed to the Admission office to compile necessary health coverage information.
  • If not covered by any insurance, the patient’s family member or representative will be requested to pay an estimated cost of hospitalization as a deposit.

Financial Policies and Payment Options

Self-Paying Patients:

  • An estimated cost of your anticipated hospital stay and any upcoming procedures will be calculated.
  • A deposit equivalent to this estimated cost is required at the time of admission.
  • Please ensure you retain all payment receipts for your records. Any overpayment will be promptly refunded upon discharge.

Insurance and Third-Party Payer Information:

Bekaa Hospital works with various insurance providers and national funds. Please note the specific requirements for each:

National Social Security Fund (NSSF):

  • Elective Admission: The NSSF Authorization Form must be fully finalized and approved by the hospital’s NSSF office before admission.
  • Emergency Admission: The patient’s representative must immediately inform the Admission office and finalize all requested approvals from the hospital’s NSSF administrative and medical representatives for final approval from the central NSSF office.

Ministry of Public Health (MOPH):

  • Elective Admission: MOPH authorization must be finalized before admission. Please provide the following documents:

o Your Personal ID.
o A letter stating that the patient does not receive benefits from NSSF.
o A medical report completed by a Bekaa Hospital physician and approved by the MOPH-assigned physician at the hospital.

  • Emergency Admission: The above steps regarding documentation and approval should be completed by the patient’s relative or representative as soon as possible after admission.

Internal Security Forces (ISF):

  • Elective Admission: A written approval from the guarantor, specifying the class of admission and type of treatment, must be presented upon admission.

  • Emergency Admission: Patients can be admitted upon presenting their guarantor card. A formal coverage letter must then be presented to the guarantor by the next working day.

Ministry of Defense:

  • Elective Admission: Requirements are the same as for Internal Security Forces.

  • Emergency Admission: Requirements are the same as for Internal Security Forces.

Cooperative of Governmental Employees (COOP):

  • Elective Admission: The COOP medical form must be completed by a Bekaa Hospital physician, signed by the hospital, the patient’s employer, and then approved by a COOP physician.

  • Emergency Admission: The same steps required for elective admission must be completed as soon as possible, with the authorization form presented to the hospital within 48 hours of admission.

Private Insurance Companies:

  • Elective Admission: A written approval from your guarantor (insurance company) must be presented upon admission, specifying the ceiling for coverage and the class of admission.

  • Emergency Admission: Patients are admitted upon presenting their insurance card and identification card. A medical report admission form must be submitted to the Insurance Company on the same day.

Important Financial Responsibilities

  • Retain Receipts: Patients are advised to keep all receipts for payments made at the hospital.
  • Approvals Prior to Discharge: All necessary approvals and authorization forms from third-party payers must be issued and finalized prior to your discharge.
  • Patient Portion of the Bill: Any percentage of the bill not covered by your third-party payer (e.g., co-payments, deductibles, non-covered services) is the direct responsibility of the patient and must be settled upon discharge.
  • Understanding Your Coverage: It is the patient’s responsibility to fully understand the specifics of their health insurance policy, including any exclusions, limitations, or policies related to specific services or procedures.
